Tigers’ APs Shine at 2026 OMHA Championships
The Aurora Tigers organization was well represented this past weekend in Peterborough as four
of the club’s affiliate players delivered standout performances at the 2026 OMHA U16 and U18
AAA Championships.
Competing against the top teams across the province, Jonah Tagliarino and Noah Janeiro (Credit River Capitals U16), along with Lucas Carpino (Markham Waxers U18) and Lucian Arniotis (North Shore Whitecaps U18), all helped their respective clubs reach championship weekend while battling for spots in the U16 OHL Cup and U18 OHF Championships.
On the U16 side, Tagliarino and Janeiro played pivotal roles in leading the Credit River Capitals to a historic championship. Credit River captured the title with a 4–2 victory over the York Simcoe Express in the final, securing the organization’s first-ever OMHA Championship across all divisions.
Tagliarino enjoyed a remarkable tournament, recording 4 goals and 8 points in five games, highlighted by a dominant two-goal, one-assist performance in the championship game. Janeiro was equally impactful from the blue line, consistently shutting down opposing attacks while anchoring the Capitals’ penalty kill. His steady defensive play helped guide the team to an undefeated tournament run.
In the U18 division, the Tigers’ presence was felt between the pipes. Arniotis delivered a strong tournament for the North Shore Whitecaps, highlighted by a crucial 4–2 semifinal victory over the Ajax-Pickering Raiders, where he made several key saves to
preserve the lead and send his team to the championship game.
Meanwhile, Carpino was a workhorse for the Markham Waxers, starting all five games and posting an impressive 1.80 goals-against average throughout the tournament. His outstanding play helped power the Waxers’ Cinderella run, culminating in a thrilling 3–2 overtime victory in the final to capture their third consecutive U18 OMHA Championship.
The Aurora Tigers are proud to see their affiliate players excelling on the provincial stage and continuing to represent the organization with skill, determination, and character.
Congratulations to Noah, Jonah, Lucas, and Lucian on an outstanding OMHA Championship weekend.
