Tigers Sign Assistant Coach/Director of Hockey Operations

The Tigers have announced this evening that Jay Simmonds has been signed as an assistant coach, joining the current staff of head coach James Thomson and assistant coach David Goverde. Jay will also serve as the director of hockey operations.

Jay comes from the Uxbridge Bruins of the PJHL. He has been a member of the organization for the last 5 seasons, serving as an assistant general manager and general manager from 2020-2024, and president in 2024/25 and throughout this current 2025/26 season.

While working with Uxbridge, he has served as a scout for the Guelph Storm of the OHL for the last three seasons. (2023-24, 2024-25, 2025-26)

Tigers Head Coach/General Manager James Thomson said, “Jay brings an impressive level of experience and leadership for someone at his stage of his career. His time working as a scout with the Guelph Storm organization and as President of the Uxbridge Bruins has given him a unique prospective on both player evaluation and program management.”

“We’re excited to add someone with his work ethic, hockey knowledge, and passion for the game to our staff.”

We would like to welcome Jay to Aurora and we look forward to the summer, and upcoming season with him.
